A test run over the weekend of our smallest buttercup squash yielded one slightly overlooked cucurbit. (I didn't want to waste another prime specimen.) No locked oven. No billowing plumes of noxious smoke. Even the utterly disposable, if need be, glass pie pan gleaned from a summer yard sale for a quarter survived intact. Whew!
So, tonight, we are bravely forging ahead with a locally raised chicken stuffed with two remaking Christmas oranges, another buttercup -- lucky for us, our eight plants yielded more than two dozen dark green globes of goodness! -- and still more bintje potatoes.
After more than an hour, the aromas are delectable and all seems to be proceeding according to plan.
Fire up the appetites -- I do believe we have a winner!
